For the Molasses Layer:
1 9-inch pie crust
3/4 cup of boiling water
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 cup of baking molasses
1 egg yolk
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Dissolve soda in boiling water, add the molasses
and stir, then combine the egg yolk and set aside.

Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Cut in the butter until the
mixture forms coarse crumbs. Pour the molasses mixture into the pie shell.
Sprinkle crumbs evenly over top. Do not stir.

Bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes. Then reduce the heat to 350 degrees and
bake 20 minutes longer. Cool and serve.
