|This gets mileage, especially in veggie season
The three basic ingredients:
A head of lettuce
Two or three good ripe tomatoes
A small onion (Vidalia works best)
Cut these ingredients into small pieces.
Mix the ingredients in a large bowl.
Sprinkle with black pepper to taste.
Now you have some choices:
You can stir in vinegar and oil dressing.
Serve without dressing and put bottles on the table.
You can add enough mayonaise to stick it together.
You can add things to make a meal of the salad itself.
